The San Diego alt-rock veterans have announced the “Forever Now Tour,” a sprawling fall run that will bring them across the United States alongside fellow emo-era mainstays Anberlin.
The tour arrives in support of Switchfoot’s upcoming album Forever Now, due out June 26. It marks the band’s first full-length studio release in five years and follows the recent single “Wake Up, Mr. Crow,” which introduced a slightly rawer, more urgent side of the group’s sound.
According to the announced routing, the trek will stretch across nearly 40 cities with stops in Chicago, Nashville, Orlando, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Seattle, and more. The run is currently scheduled to begin in September and continue through late November, with select dates also featuring appearances from Fuel and Lit.
For longtime fans, the pairing with Anberlin feels especially fitting. Both bands emerged from the early-2000s alternative rock wave that blurred the lines between radio-ready hooks and emotionally heavy songwriting. While Switchfoot leaned toward soaring, philosophical anthems like “Meant to Live” and “Dare You to Move,” Anberlin carved out their own lane with darker, post-hardcore-tinged tracks like “Feel Good Drag.” Together, the package feels less like a nostalgia play and more like a reunion of bands that never fully disappeared.
In a statement surrounding the announcement, bassist Tim Foreman described the upcoming shows as the final step in bringing the new record to life, emphasizing how important live performance remains to the band’s identity.
Nearly three decades into their career, Switchfoot continue to occupy a rare space in rock music. They’ve outlasted trends, crossed between alternative radio and festival circuits, and maintained a fiercely loyal fanbase without abandoning the introspective songwriting that made them stand out in the first place. The “Forever Now Tour” looks poised to celebrate all of it — the old favorites, the new material, and the kind of singalong catharsis that made the band a staple of the 2000s rock scene.
