Caleb Shomo Comes Out as Gay Ahead of Beartooth’s Philadelphia Tour Stop

Written by Kevin Carroll

A powerful and personal moment for Caleb Shomo marks the beginning of a new chapter for both the singer and Beartooth.

Beartooth

Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo has publicly come out as a gay man, sharing an emotional statement about self-acceptance and personal growth. The announcement arrives just months before the band’s Nov. 13 performance at Franklin Music Hall in Philadelphia.

For years, Caleb Shomo has built Beartooth around radical honesty. Whether writing about mental health struggles, addiction, or personal setbacks, the singer has never been afraid to put his life into his music. This week, he shared perhaps his most personal revelation yet.

In a heartfelt statement posted to social media, Shomo publicly came out as a gay man. He described the announcement as the result of years of self-discovery and reflection, explaining that sobriety helped him better understand parts of himself he had spent much of his life avoiding.

The response from fans has been overwhelmingly supportive, with many praising the Beartooth frontman for his openness. While Shomo has always been candid in his songwriting, this marks the first time he has spoken publicly about his sexuality.

The timing is significant. Beartooth is preparing to launch its next era with the upcoming album Pure Ecstasy, a record that Shomo has described as his most authentic work to date. The band's recent single "Free" already hinted at a more liberated and confident perspective, and fans are now viewing that release through a new lens.

Philadelphia-area fans will have a chance to see this new chapter firsthand when Beartooth brings the Pure Ecstasy Tour to Franklin Music Hall on November 13. Joined by Don Broco, Magnolia Park, and Windwaker, the show is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated rock and metal events of the fall.

For an artist whose career has been defined by vulnerability, Shomo's announcement feels less like a surprise and more like the next step in a journey he has been documenting through music all along.
